NORTHERN
COUNTIES CHOW CHOW CLUB GARDEN PARTY
On 11th September over 100 people gathered at a
Garden Party at Barkisland Hall, the home of Lady Eve Williamson, Honorary
Secretary of Northern Counties Chow Chow Club.
Barkisland Hall, a Stuart design building, was originally
built in 1638 by John Gledhill and has been carefully restored to its former
glory by Eve.
Guest of Honour was Joan Egerton of the famous
Ukwong Chow Chows (breeder of Ch. Ukwong King Solomon, top winning U.K. chow of
all time) who has been connected with Northern Counties Chow Chow Club Committee
for 50 years and is currently Honorary Vice President.
Joan, who very much enjoyed the opportunity of reminiscing with old
friends, was presented with a bouquet and small gift by Lady Williamson on
behalf of Northern Counties Chow Club.

Chowists in attendance had travelled from Scotland, Wales and all parts of
England. They enjoyed catching up
on old times with Joan as well as admiring the beautifully landscaped gardens
and participating in a variety of garden games, including golf on the hall’s
private 9 hole golf course. Drinks
and buffet refreshments were served from the garden kitchen and later in the
afternoon a small number of guests were treated to a tour of the magnificent
three storey Barkisland Hall.

For those chowists who missed it the event was so successful that Eve is
planning a second garden Party to be held in 2006 – look out for the date in Chow Events issued by
the Chow Breed Council.
